The Opportunity: (Internal) Communications and Engagement Manager – Hybrid, Purfleet, Essex.

Join us in leading and driving our colleague engagement and retention, enabling business growth through the management, implementation, and delivery of the most compelling and innovative communication and engagement strategies to maximise colleague engagement.
About The Opportunity:
- Develop an internal comms, engagement & retention strategy, with associated roadmap.
- Develop and deliver all internal communications and colleague engagement/retention activities across Carpetright UK, ensuring our colleagues are informed and positively talk about us as an employer of choice.
- Deliver engaging communications (using a variety of methodologies) across our various channels including retail stores, head office and warehouse.
- Take ownership of our company intranet (Interact) ensuring content is relevant, current, and engaging.
- Lead on the design, delivery, and execution of internal events.
- Create an annual communications calendar which considers key events, timelines, and opportunities to engage with colleagues.
- Take ownership for creating a sense of belonging across the business through our Carpetright Connects programme.
- Develop communications using a variety of mediums (written, video etc) to reach our colleagues across the business.
- Analyse business and HR data to identify areas of opportunity for effective engagement activities.
- Lead on development and promotion of our EVP
- Take steps to understand the drivers of engagement & retention within the business and put in place programmes to leverage those levers.
- Take ownership of a companywide colleague engagement surveys (plus other colleague surveys) including ensuring there are business/departmental action plans in place based on the output
- Create meaningful data and reporting to demonstrate progress.
- Create regular updates for the senior leadership team on the ‘feeling’ from the business with recommendations on how to improve engagement.
- Be the authority on all thing’s comms, engagement, and retention within the organisation. Use experience, insights and thought leadership to challenge the status quo.
- Take steps to really engage stakeholders in the challenges and take ownership for the solutions.
- Work with department leaders to create specific plans in each area to help engage and retain colleagues.
About Your Experience:
- Substantial communications experience at manager level, preferable in a large and fast-paced organisation (ideally a multi-site retail environment)
- Proven experience designing and delivering communications programmes that effectively brought commercial objectives to life, including engagement data.
- A solid track record of improving engagement and retention within a distributed retail organisation.
- Proven exemplary written and verbal communications skills, plus experience storytelling in other mediums such as video or major in-person/hybrid events.
- Well-developed analytical capability with the ability to present insights in a concise and simple way but with maximum impact.
