Our client, a leading not-for-profit publisher, requires a new Production Editor who will be responsible for delivering finished journal and book files in print and online format, on time and on budget.
We need someone that can hit the ground running with previous experience within production that is confident negotiating competitive agreements with suppliers and is able to handle external stakeholders including Association staff, Editors, authors, reviewers, and peers in other publishers and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinating printing and online publication of journal articles on time
- Monitoring journal print runs to ensure the correct number of copies are printed of each issue
- Monitoring the Print On Demand journal process to ensure the distributor feed is accurate
- Managing copy-editing, typesetting, design, proofing, printing, and online publication
- Supporting book authors to submit their manuscripts in the required format
- Maintaining the Titles in Production Trello board in the agreed format
- Overseeing printing, distribution and online publication
- Negotiating agreements with suppliers to provide cost-effective, reliable and high-quality services
- Ensuring that invoices from suppliers are processed correctly and paid efficiently
- Making files and metadata available on journal articles and book chapters for feeds to e-book vendors, journal aggregators and other third party services
- Liaise with typesetter and third-party web platform (Silverchair).
- Delivering agreed objectives within budget
