The Department of Information Studies (DIS, founded in 1919 and formerly called the School of Library, Archive & Information Studies, or SLAIS) is the only department in the UK with programmes in library and information studies, archives and records management, publishing and digital humanities. DIS provides students with an active research and learning environment across the information disciplines. In addition to its postgraduate programmes, the Department also teaches a number of courses at undergraduate level for students from other UCL departments.

About the role

The main function of the post will be to assist in the detailed financial activities of the Department and to aid the Departmental Manager (DM) in monitoring departmental expenditure and transactions. This is combined with general departmental research administration assisting with managing grants, pro and post award. This role will be starting on the 1st of March 2023 or later (depending on the successful candidate's notice period) until the 1st of December 2023. Priority will be given to redeployees and UCL internal candidates, as this role is also available for secondment. External applicants are also welcome to apply.

About you

A relevant financial qualification or significant experience obtained in Higher Education. Experience of financial administration and knowledge of accounting and financial procedures (including the preparation and monitoring of budgets). Excellent computer literacy, including efficient use of Word and Excel and efficient and effective use of the internet, both as a source of information and for completion of forms and databases held online.
