Manufacturing engineering plays a key role in the daily operation of the Company, by maintaining and developing the processes and materials used in the production of our products. Our engineers work with the common goal of achieving the optimisation of the plant, ensuring that our products can be efficiently manufactured without compromising the high quality expected from our customers.
Working as part of the Process Engineering team, you will be involved in live projects from day one. You will become part of a team that will work in both the Materials and manufacturing. The position will provide you with a broad engineering background, together with an appreciation of cable design, materials, and manufacturing techniques within the Power Cable Industry.
Typical tasks may include:
Implementing, developing and maintaining processes.
Conducting mechanical and material tests individually or in teams within the factory and laboratory
.Carrying out of a wide range of tasks aimed at the process commissioning, industrialisation and improvement to the full range of manufacturing processes. These range from Planning and organising factory trials, contacting suppliers, producing the relevant documentation/technical drawings, training operators assisting with process monitoring etc.
In aid of your personal development we will assign an experienced Engineer as a mentor, who will provide support and advice whilst overseeing your progress.
Monday to Friday – flexible working hours
The company employs engineers of a range of levels across its activities – in manufacturing, maintenance, research, development and installation. Apprentices completing the training period may be offered positions in these areas if suitable positions are available.
The position will be offered for the duration of 3 years on the basis that the apprentice will be provided training and development during the period. This will include study for an HNC in an engineering discipline in a day release basis.
Good practical skills, able to plan and organise themselves, with an aptitude for understanding general technical issues.
It is essential that you can work well in a team and possess good communication/interpersonal skills. We will expect a professional attitude to work and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Candidate is to be qualified to “A” level or equivalent standard.
