The Colleges at York are part of the Student Life and Wellbeing team which works to enhance all aspects of student life and experience at the University of York, it is part of the Student and Academic Services Directorate.
As College Manager you will be a key part of providing a sector leading experience for students, one which supports them, challenges them and helps them to flourish. As operational lead at the College you will provide a coaching approach to the student committee and student-staff at your college to help them achieve their aims and develop key transferable skills which will assist them to succeed as students and in life.
Being at the centre of student-life in your college, you will be adept at being able to respond to emerging issues quickly and effectively, whilst maintaining a strategic focus on the wider objectives that the College holds. You will have experience of thriving in people centred roles and will have a track record of achievement through effective influencing and managing people, and you will be able to delegate or escalate issues to the appropriate level.
As a College Manager you will be expected to provide over-night and weekend availability on a rota basis as College Duty Officer, supporting, when required, the work of the Campus Safety team to ensure that we deal with emergencies in a safe and appropriate way.
- You will hold an understanding of student development and behavioural issues and demonstrate excellent judgement and confidence in taking action.
- You will have knowledge of the University’s student support services and their function
- You will have a track record of developing leaders
- You will be creative, positive and solution-focused in responding to challenges in a professional setting.
These roles are available on a fixed term basis:
2 contracts: Fixed term 1 year (June 2023-July 2024) & Fixed term 2 years (March 2023-March 2025)
