The post holder will act as Lead Psychologist for the GMMH Rehabilitation Division. The Division provides support to adults with complex mental health difficulties across the GMMH footprint via both inpatient units and a new community team. The postholder will have responsibility for the ongoing development and maintenance of safe and effective psychological input into these services.
You will be expected to provide professional leadership including involvement in the senior leadership team, supervision to psychologists and other psychological therapy staff working across the services, and training and support for the wider rehabilitation MDT. Alongside clinical and professional leadership duties, the post holder will be expected to carry a small caseload, providing psychological assessment, formulation and interventions of patients with complex mental health needs including psychosis and trauma.
A key aspect of the role is developing creative, compassionate and trauma-informed approaches to working with this group of service users, and supporting other staff in doing the same. The post holder will contribute to the assessment of people for admission to rehabilitation services, and will support a timely processes of discharge and stepping down.
The post will involve working closely with multi-disciplinary teams including carers, psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, support workers and managers. Developing the skills of others is a key element of the role.
