Our Bakkavor business in Bo’ness, based near Falkirk, specialises in the production of fresh, high quality salad products working primarily with premium retailers. To give you a sense for the scale of manufacturing in Bo’ness we produce over 70million salad based meals and side dishes from our 2 manufacturing facilities employing over 1200 people in the town.
The Role:
You will be working in our Carriden factory which manufactures high quality multi component products for a range of retailers. We have circa 50 products in our range which is supported by an active NPD team that is growing and changing regularly.
Due to an expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager to join the team – managing 5-6 shift managers and 200 – 300 operatives, you will be responsible for leading operational activities on a day-to-day basis and deputise for the factory manager in their absence.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Health & Safety - Pro-actively managing to ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees in the operation and that as a minimum the operation meets the standards set out in the Group Health & Safety policy
- Technical Standards – Leading and and driving quality standards, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within your area through Good Manufacturing Practice (G.M.P.)
- Employee Relations – Supporting and encouraging the Bakkavor values and a positive culture within your area, whilst fostering good employee relations through fair, consistent and effective people management
- Performance Management - Appropriately managing the performance of team members through the use of Bakkavor performance managements systems and challenging KPIs to drive performance.
- Labour Planning - Through appropriate forecasting taking accountability for labour planning and ensuring that an appropriate core of employees is in place – developing staff skill sets as you go.
About You
Ideally, you will have previous experience of a client facing similar role within a fast-paced food manufacturing or FMCG setting – with a good knowledge of allergen awareness and health and safety practices.
Strong leadership, communication, problem solving, project and stakeholder management skills are a must.
A history of undertaking accident investigations, risk assessments and driving continuous improvement will also be key.
You will be energetic, punctual, proactive, and reliable with the ability to lead, guide, and motivate others towards achievement.
