As an Analyst - Transportation (Customs), you will be responsible for providing our customs clearance, HS code support, and trade coordination activities across the EMEA region. As part of the Transportation team, you will also be responsible for supporting our regulatory and compliance functions, documentation administration and maintaining business awareness of all issues relating to customs process and duty.
Responsibilities:
- Provide inbound clearance for shipments into the region, primarily in the UK, but potentially region wide.
- Work closely with appointed external clearance partners, to maintain good relationships and working practices.
- Provide and maintain good knowledge and guidance on import and export duty, rates and taxes. Initially within the UK and EU, but potentially expanding to the rest of the region.
- Work with the EMEA Tax team to ensure all transactions are compliant with the rules of the governing country in the region.
- Provide and maintain good knowledge and guidance on preferential rates for products, across the EMEA region.
- Will assist with, and potentially lead, the implementation of any new customs initiatives or projects
- Complete assessment and checks on HS code request as required, for products across the EMEA region.
- Provide customer service to internal and external customer inquiries.
- Create and maintain appropriate daily, weekly, and monthly management reporting.
- Participate in LEAN initiatives.
Qualifications:
* Education to ‘A’ or BTEC level, or significant industry experience
- BTEC or similar Customs qualifications preferred
- Experience and knowledge of working in customs clearance and cross border transactions required
- Experience of self-clearance customs would be advantageous
- Good knowledge of the freight sector and trade coordination would be advantageous
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)
- Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated
- Strong computer skills (SharePoint, Transportation & customs-specific systems)
- Knowledge of Tariff Classification
