THE ROLE:
To assist the Technical and Events Department in preparations for all events related requirements within the Arena. To ensure high standards and a healthy and safe environment are maintained to provide an exceptional level of service to all users of the venue.To take responsibility for the digital equipment in the back of house and production areas.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITES:
- To prepare the digital provision within the venue to ensure that the back of house and Arena Bowl systems are ready for the incoming events
- To assist the venue hirers in using the digital and technical provision in the dressing rooms.
- To assist in troubleshooting IT issues for the venue hirers, promoters and event organisers, specifically as they interface with the venue provision.
- On a rota basis, carry out the duties of Load-in Supervisor and, on occasion, Load-out Supervisor.
- Ensuring that all necessary information is in place and to hand prior to the event.
- Direct and first line contact with promoters and production teams for touring events; ensuring venue hirers have everything they need to operate their event from the dressing room furniture to phone and internet lines as well as the correct staging and seating configuration in accordance with the advance planning from the Events Manager.
- Supervision and liaison with external contractors, including conversion, show cleaning and maintenance services.
- Working closely with the venue engineers, providing technical and manual support for load in and load out of events.
- Preparing the venue between events including seated to standing, moving of retractable seating and draping, dressing room provision, concourse and search lane set up.
- Managing and supervising the compliance with the venue’s health and safety practices
- Planning and managing stock control (including sourcing and storage) of consumable items within the Technical and Events Department.
- Liaising with the Events Management Team regarding event requirements, planning and decision making to ensure that the Events Team are operating in a cohesive, safe and effective manner.
- Reactive maintenance throughout the venue, first line response to mechanical and digital faults in the venue.
- Any other duties required by the Events and Operations teams.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
The demonstrable ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Experience of staff supervision
Awareness of health and safety issues associated with the events industry
Experience of event lighting, sound, stage management and / or rigging.
Qualification in Information Technology or a related subject and good IT skills
Experience of building maintenance, fire alarm systems and evacuation procedures.
The ability to communicate effectively with a variety of colleagues and users of the Arena, including promoters, contractors and production teams.
Health and Safety qualification, experience in writing risk assessments.
The ability to prioritise work, work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Knowledge and understanding of IT systems, telephones / communications systems.
A willingness to learn new skills and to share skills with team members.
Good general housekeeping skills
First Aid at Work Certificate
Experience in the events industry – either venue or touring based.
GENERAL
The job requires the post holder to work varied and unsociable hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
The post holder will be required to work at height and in enclosed spaces.
