The Directorate of Technology, Estates and Facilities [DTEF] is responsible for ‘providing outstanding work, study, research facilities, and facilities to enhance the student experience, on campus and online’.
This role is part of the Estates Operations & Maintenance section which carries responsibility for input to the design of all major and minor construction projects in the University, together with the responsibility for the maintenance of building fabric throughout the life of the building, utilities, services and grounds.
As a member of a multi-skilled technical team, you will undertake planned maintenance, installation, alterations and repairs throughout the University. You will also oversee contracted and maintenance repair work.
Work is planned through the use of a Computer based Maintenance Management System with work managed using principles of a self-managed work team. You will be required to be fully conversant with the used technology and show a degree of independence in decision making. The keeping of accurate electronic records is core to the role.
You will be an enthusiastic, hands-on craft person with a time served trades qualification including City and Guilds or equivalent.
You will be required to be on a call-out rota and there is an expectation that you will respond to Business Critical issues out of hours and at weekends.
- Craft trade apprentice trained to City and Guilds Level in the core trade or equivalent training and experience, for example: Joinery: C&G 6111 Level 2-3 or equivalent
- Hands on building services experience obtained within a building services environment
- Ability to make informed decisions across a wide range of issues taking into account health and safety legislation and conflicting demands and priorities.
- Evidence of upholding our behaviours.
