An Architect or Senior Technician to work within the Building Design Team, part of the Design & Construction Service at Lancashire County Council .
Our Design & Construction Service is a multidisciplinary and specialised team comprised of Project Management plus Building and Civil Engineering Design. We deliver a comprehensive £50m+ capital programme which invests in the county council's property and highway assets, including schools, libraries, museums, offices, roads, bridges, culverts and drainage systems. Our fantastic team has an array of experts from Architects and Architectural Technicians to Structural and Civil Engineers, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Landscape Architects, Geotechnical, Quantity Surveyors and Ecologists. Our key objective is to design, supervise and project manage everything from the design and build of new bridges and schools, through to renovation and repairs on existing council buildings.
What we are looking for…
Communication & Collaboration – You'll be a confident, knowledgeable professional who can manage projects through planning applications, building regulations and listed building consent as directed by the Principal Architect alongside a multidisciplinary team. You'll have the ability to influence and communicate with a range of individuals so liaising with building surveyors, highways, external contractors, suppliers, head teachers etc. as required. – You'll oversee projects from design to completion through a driven and collaborative approach appreciating how engaging with others supports the successful delivery of a project
Knowledgeable – You'll be an experienced specialist in the field of Architectural Design and able to confidently articulate the technicalities and complexities of what we are trying to achieve to others – you'll have a detailed understanding of CDM, planning and building regulations so able to challenge practice and process ensuring that we are compliant at all times – you will be instructing junior staff, so your knowledge and experience will be key to not only establishing your credibility, but also you'll have the ability to share that knowledge and the develop others within the team
Innovative – You'll be innovative and creative; forward thinking with an eye on future technology both in design and materials – we're looking for someone with the ability to support both the decarbonisation of our current estate and with the knowledge to ensure all new constructions are the most eco-friendly and efficient as possible - you'll have demonstrable experience in AutoCAD, NBS and REVIT plus extensive post qualification experience in traditional and modern methods of construction from conception to completion
