About the opportunity
You will be joining our UK Transportation Business, which consists of over 1700 people located in offices throughout the UK. The rail part of the business includes Network Rail, TfL and HS2 amongst its biggest clients.
Owing to a significant increase in our secured works throughout 2023 and beyond we are looking to enhance our national overhead line design function. As a vital member of our Rail team, you will utilise your highly developed technical engineering, interpersonal and organisational skills in supporting the technical delivery of Rail OLE solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead Designer duties for OLE design schemes
- Production of OLE design submissions including OLE Layout Plans, Cross Sections, Allocations, Isolation Diagrams updates, bonding designs, and supporting reports and calculations.
- Ensuring designs are delivered in line with relevant, current design standards, are constructable, and apply Safe by Design principles.
- Partake in designs reviews to other disciplines and to the client’s engineering teams through IDCs and other progressive design development meetings.
- Help the development of junior members of staff. Developing the skills and knowledge base in Jacobs’ OLE design team.
- Providing technical support to multi-disciplinary and electrification projects
- Engaging with clients at all levels
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Proven experience in OLE Design within the UK
- Interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
- Verbal communication skills: able to present and discuss designs with clients and other stakeholders in IDCs and Progressive Design Reviews.
- Experience with OLEMI and other OLE ranges i.e. UKMS, Mk3B, ATF, UK1.
- Written skills: able to structure a technical design report.
- Familiar with Isolation/section diagrams and their update process
- Understanding of Earthing & Bonding required for electrification
- BIM knowledge and an aptitude in MicroStation
- Desire to train and mentor more junior members of the OLE design team
- IT skills including Microsoft Office and ProjectWise applications
