This is an exciting opportunity for a registered Paramedic wishing to join part of the Primary care Team, under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme.
We have a rapidly expanding team of healthcare professionals within the Practice, including GPs, Nurses, Physicians Associate, health care assistant and Clinical Pharmacists.
We are also a training practice for GP Registrars.
Job Purpose
The role will provide a specialist Paramedic resource for patients, working in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team who work within the surgery, as an autonomous,
Accountable Paramedic Practitioner.
The Practitioner will conduct home visits and liaise with the medical team at the surgery to discuss the findings and management plan.
When not visiting patients, the Practitioner will support the clinical team with chronic disease management and local and direct enhanced services, including the PCN DES

Clinical Responsibilities
- Triage and treat patients wishing to see a health care professional, making any necessary referrals to other members of the primary health care team
- Patients with problems needing referral to secondary care should be discussed with the registered GP if appropriate, before making such referral.
- Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective and remains within boundaries of competence, and to acknowledge limitations.
- Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments, with referral to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary
- Work from the surgery and within communities as an autonomous practitioner caring for patients and families.
- Ensure that personal and professional clinical standards are maintained.
- To undertake assessment for patients within the community and those attending the surgery, using diagnostic skills and initiation of investigations where appropriate.
- To undertake home visits as assessed and directed by the duty doctor.
- To undertake home visits for flu and COVID vaccinations, if applicable.
- To take part in chronic disease clinics and enhanced service contracts, if home visits are not required to be done.
- To formally/informally impart knowledge and skills to colleagues promoting peer review and best practice within the work environment.
- To maintain accurate, contemporaneous healthcare records appropriate to the consultation.
- Ensure evidenced-based care is delivered at the highest standards ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Work with local policies and procedures.
- Enhance own performance through Continuous Professional Development, imparting own knowledge and behaviours to meet the needs of the service.
Administration and professional responsibilities
- Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team
- Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patient’s notes
- Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date, with accurate details recorded and amended
- Ensure appropriate items of service claims are made accurately, reporting any problems to the practice administrator
- Attend and participate in practice meetings as required
- To ensure Indemnity is kept up to date and annual certificates are passed to management.

Code of Conduct: Paramedics must comply with the Standards for Proficiency set by the Health and Care Professions Council. Personal/Professional Development:Participate in defining own developmental plan to maintain and develop own clinical skills and ensure own professional development.
- Undertake and complete all statutory and mandatory training.
- Participate in an appraisal and regular performance reviews.
- Ensure that all mandatory training is completed in line with organisational policy.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of the teaching of and support for new and existing staff in the Practice.
Person Specification
- Must have and maintain own transport with business car insurance
- Must have experience working autonomously within a previous healthcare setting
- Must have all appropriate qualifications and membership that are kept up to date
