We are looking for a relief community support worker within our South Manchester mental health community service, supporting adults who have enduring mental health diagnoses. You will work alongside individuals in a recovery-focused model, enabling them to enjoy a fulfilling and valued life, to participate in the community and to develop their abilities. The areas covered include, but are not limited to, Wythenshawe, Northenden, Withington, Fallowfield, Chorlton, and Didsbury localities.
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, inclusive, organised and caring individual with forward-thinking qualities to support our service users to achieve greater independence, with the aim of working in partnership with agencies involved in their support and care planning. The successful applicant will be able to think on their feet and respond to a fast-paced environment, with a positive and proactive attitude. The role will involve promoting the rights of service users with mental health needs to move on positively to greater independence.
You will be expected to co-produce support plans with the service users that promote their choices and independence, paying particular attention to areas such as daily living skills, community outreach, and housing goals. You are likely to engage in a wide range of tasks and activities as part of your role. You must be willing to travel within the South Manchester area in order to provide support to our service users in their own accommodations.
As well as working alongside our service users living in the community, you will also provide support in an accommodation-based service in Wythenshawe. The aims of this service are to assist in the move-on of the 11 resident service users in their self-contained flats. You will also be expected to fulfil housing duties relating to the day-to-day running of the accommodation, such as fire safety and property maintenance audits.
This post is an ideal opportunity to become involved in the delivery of a high quality service, giving real job satisfaction as you assist our service users in defining and achieving their goals. You will join an established and experienced team, and benefit from excellent line management support. The role is fully supported through a probation period with consistent supervision and access to training to assist your learning and development.
Previous care experience is essential for this role. The ideal candidate must have a strong work ethic, duty of care and be able to contribute to a positive team approach.
