Job Description

Owing to new investment, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a whole time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our expanding Unscheduled Care team on a permanent basis to deliver Physiotherapy within the medical wards in University Hospital Ayr.

As a senior clinician, you will have responsibility for delivering highly skilled physiotherapy to unwell adults in the medical wards and in the Frailty Unit. You will work with patients with frailty and complex rehabilitation needs and play a significant part in planning and facilitating safe discharge from the acute hospital setting. In addition, you will support the Band 5 Rotational Physiotherapists, Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner and Physiotherapy Assistants within our team and you will also contribute to practice education.

You will have an interest in acute rehabilitation, frailty and respiratory physiotherapy and will have relevant experience of delivering physiotherapy within an acute hospital setting. You will be passionate about empowering your patients to achieve their goals and to remain as independent and active as possible. Participation in service improvement is expected and encouraged.

The town of Ayr is in South Ayrshire, situated in the South West of Scotland on the Firth of the Clyde. Ayrshire boasts 80 miles of coastline, a mild maritime climate, picturesque beaches, rolling green hills and islands, and provides access to a large range of outdoor pursuits including watersports, cycling and hill walking. There are excellent transport links with Glasgow, and nearby Prestwick has its own international airport.

The team has an excellent reputation for our quality of service and commitment to professional development and post graduate training. We offer in-service training and an appraisal programme as well as peer support and practice supervision.

You should have excellent communication skills and be able to work within a team. You must have HCPC registration and being a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy is desirable.

Car owner / driver is essential.
