Packaging Engineer

We are looking for a motivated Engineer with mechanical or electrical skills to join the team as a full-time employee to support Orals Tablets Packaging as part of the Engineer Trade team based at Worthing. The role provides engineering trade support within field of expertise for running adjustments, change overs, maintenance and break down support.

In this role you will

  • Receive and complete Merps generated maintenance works orders.

  • Support production targets in meeting schedule.

  • Uphold team behaviours and culture in-line with departmental code of conduct.

  • Escalate issues to Lead Tradesman or Team Leader as appropriate in a timely manner.

  • Develop Risk assessments and Method Statements for tasks before undertaking them.

  • Work safely at all times, reporting any safety-issues to the team leader.

  • Raise and investigate safety issues as appropriate.

  • Comply with all site and departmental safety procedures and systems. Raise/Countersign permit to work as appropriate.

  • Comply with all GMP procedures and completed all GMP documentation accurately.

  • Identify/report/correct any discrepancies on the Merps engineering database.

  • Ensure equipment maintenance and repair is of the highest quality in-line with GSK and statutory requirements.

  • Compliance with applicable GSK standards and procedures.

  • Provide support for regulatory audits.

  • Identify and implement improvements to the installed equipment that would improve the Sites performance.

  • Commission new installations. Inspect contractors work during installation and prior to handover.

  • Mentor apprentices.

  • Audit engineering-controlled areas.

  • Source and purchase spares for non-inventory items.

Shift Patterns available below:

  • Modified 24/7 (2 day 2 nights 4 off 12.25hr shifts on a 4 on 4 off rotation – No weekend nights)

  • 2 Shift 7am – 2.30pm and 2pm – 10pm

About Worthing Manufacturing Site:

Manufacturing at the Worthing site is for antibiotics in the oral form (penicillin). It is advised that you take this into consideration when deciding to apply for this position.

Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Relevant experience (ideally gained working in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility)

  • Engineering qualification (eg; HNC/HND or equivalent in relevant discipline or Time served Engineering Apprenticeship)

  • Knowledge of current GMP requirements within major pharmaceutical markets.

  • Knowledge and application of the principles of the Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Previous experience vision system and serialization

  • Previous knowledge of packaging operations (pharma or food industry)

  • Previous experience of root cause analysis tools

  • Proven record of continuous improvement
