Galson Sciences Limited (GSL) is a dynamic consultancy and research company, specializing in radioactive waste management, surface, near surface and geological disposal and decommissioning worldwide. GSL joined the Egis group in April 2021.
We are now looking for a Geoscience Consultant – Graduate, to work alongside our team of a team of around 20 technical Consultants providing consultancy and research services in nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management to an international clientele.
Your role will be multi-faceted allowing you to cover different duties such as technical research, project management and business development. The role provides support to client and project relationships, interpretation of results and providing technical reports in line with client requirements.
Key responsibilities:

Delivering high-quality technical research projects relating to geological disposal of radioactive waste, in a timely cost-effective manner

Writing high quality technical reports
-
Presenting research and findings to clients, and or workshops where necessary
-
Providing a professional, consistent, and effective project management service including the use of project reporting systems in accordance with company standards and guidelines
Essential requirements:
-
MSc or PhD in quantitative and/or applied geosciences (e.g. hydrogeology geotechnical/ engineering geology), or a relevant BSc and proven radioactive waste management experience

Ability to deliver high-quality work with strong attention to detail and to tight timescales
-
Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work

Self-starting, self-motivated and driven

Strong problem-solving skills

Ability to deliver high-quality presentations to clients

Strong IT skills and proficiency in all areas of MS Office, including Teams

Strong organisational and planning skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written using English language
Desirable skills and experience:

Nuclear industry experience, and in particular radioactive waste management

Modelling, particularly with respect to geological characterisation, groundwater flow, gas transfer, and/or contaminant transport in geological media (e.g. GoldSim and COMSOL)

Environmental safety case development

Coding skills (e.g.Python, C++)
