The British Museum is looking to hire an enthusiastic and experienced Curator to work within the Department of Africa, Oceania and the Americas. As part of a small team reporting to a Senior Curator, you will focus on the care, research and display of the collections from Oceania. We are actively seeking someone who can build and nurture relationships with source communities and pursue strategies of collaboration and co-curation.
The successful candidate will be expected to make a significant contribution to delivering the Museum’s masterplan as well as future storage and display strategies. A track record of relevant research and publications is desirable.

Qualifications:
You will be educated to at least to degree level in Anthropology or a related subject and will ideally hold a post-graduate qualification. As an experienced curator, you will have produced publications in peer reviewed journals or in book form. You will have a specific interest in one area of the Pacific and Australia region. Knowledge of a Pacific language would be desirable.
You will be able to work effectively as a team and will have experience of managing people, projects and budgets. You will be an open, effective, communicator with good spoken and written English and be confident presenting in public in an engaging manner. Experience of working with Oceanic collections in a museum environment is critical, specifically on collaborative research and exhibition projects.
