Bristol Veterinary Specialists (formerly Highcroft Referrals) is recruiting an additional ECVIM-CA Oncology Resident to join our expanding oncology service. The position will be a three-year fixed-term residency.
The successful candidate will be joining 2-3 board-certified specialists in medical oncology, one in radiation oncology, one other oncology resident and one specialist intern as well as a supporting team of 3 oncology veterinary nurses, therapeutic radiographers and patient care assistants. We have a brand-new hospital with bespoke chemotherapy facilities including a state-of-the-art Elekta 6MV linear accelerator capable of state-of-the-art image-guided treatments.
Bristol Vet Specialists is an expanding multi-disciplinary referral hospital based in Avonmouth, near Bristol, with specialists in oncology, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, neurology, dermatology, cardiology, dentistry and ophthalmology. We have a number of existing residency and internship positions (in internal medicine, neurology and surgery) and enrolled our first ECVIM-CA oncology resident in July 2022. The resident will have an allocated research project from the first year in order to develop it during the residency. Generous time off clinics will be provided for study, development of a research project and holidays.
We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic and highly motivated in veterinary oncology, committed to practising the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care, and who would relish the opportunity to further their career in a specialist training program.
In addition to the clinical commitment, residents' training includes weekly attendance at journal club, book club, and other seminars on a variety of subjects. The successful candidate will be expected to present at these seminars, which will serve as preparation for external presentations at conferences.

A minimum of twelve months' experience working as a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in small animal practice in the UK is essential, as well as completion of a rotating internship. Completion of an additional, specialist oncology internship is also desirable, but not essential. Applicants must be an MRCVS by the date the position starts, and ideally by the date of application and interview.
