Job Description

Applications from motivated and enthusiastic Biomedical Scientists with HCPC registration are invited for the post of Biomedical Scientist in the Biochemical Genetics Unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital. Applicants will have completed their IBMS Registration portfolio and ideally have some experience of working at a band 5 level.

The Biochemical Genetics Unit provides newborn blood spot screening for East Anglia, together with metabolic investigations for hospitals within this area and further afield. The laboratory team is committed to providing a friendly, responsive and efficient service, and the successful applicant will need to demonstrate their ability to be a team player.

The laboratory has UKAS accreditation and the department is an IBMS approved training laboratory; we are committed to supporting the professional development of our staff. This post will allow the successful candidate to develop transferable skills and experience in various methodologies including tandem mass spectrometry and a range of chromatographic techniques. Previous experience using tandem mass spectrometry is helpful but full training will be provided.

Applications from Trainee Biomedical Scientists who have completed their IBMS Registration portfolio but are awaiting assessment will be considered.
