The opportunity
We provide real estate dispute resolution legal services for a broad range of clients across a wide range of specialist areas.
The team in Birmingham currently comprises of three Partners, a Managing Associate, two Senior Associates, two Associates, five Solicitors, two Senior Paralegals and six Paralegals, with the support of a Trainee Solicitor.
The work which one of the Partners undertakes with the Managing Associate, one Associate, three of the Solicitors, 2 Senior Paralegals and the 2 Paralegals is in the area of residential landlord and tenant legal issues and disputes. The team advises and represents a very broad client base which includes registered providers of social housing, letting agents and private individuals.
As a result of growth, the team is seeking to appoint two Solicitors (NQ-1PQE) to be based in the Birmingham office.
What you'll be doing
- Providing support and supervision to the wider team;
- Managing defended and undefended litigation in areas such as, but not limited to, anti-social behaviour, housing disrepair, rent arrears, non-access, succession, abandonment and unauthorised subletting;
- Providing advice on general residential landlord and tenant legal issues in writing and by telephone;
- Attending and representing clients at County Court and Magistrates hearings, in due course;
- Drafting court proceedings, witness statements and affidavits;
- Progressing and managing cases that proceed to trial by complying with Court directions such as disclosure and instructing Counsel;
- Negotiating settlements with opposing parties;
- Advising clients on cases and the merits of a case;
- Meeting clients, delivering training and seminars and;
- Actively participating in business development initiatives and maintaining good client relationships.
What you'll need
