THE POST – Postdoctoral research assistant - Imaging
The School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences is seeking to recruit Post Doctoral Research Assistant to advance sensors and imaging R&D within the UKRI Strength in Places Project “Digital Dairy Value-Chain for SW Scotland and Cumbria.” UWS is a key partner in this 5-year £21.3 million project along with our academic and industry partners (www.digitaldairychain.co.uk).
The focus of this post is on the design, implementation, integration and evaluation of novel artificial intelligence, imaging, and sensing solutions for the use cases in advanced inspection, measurement, and quality control infrastructure for smart supply chain processes.
The successful applicant:
- will have a PhD with post-doctoral experience in imaging technologies, and be proficient in software development and embedded programming for artificial intelligence. The R&D of the new systems will be informed by latest sensing and image classification technology from the ALMADA research group.
- The postholder may contribute to other projects wherever required. The work under development will produce prototypes to be demonstrated in operational environments. This role also has responsibility for leading the writing up of deliverables for the project and research papers for publication, assisting in grant applications and supporting other members in the ALMADA team.
