Band 2 Facility Support Worker / Porter
Department: Inverclyde HSCP
Hours: 18.75 Monday – Friday
Grade: Band 2
Base: Port Glasgow Health Centre
Role of the department: To provide comprehensive service to facilitate the smooth running of Port Glasgow HSCP. To assist as a communication hub for all facilities management matters that arise around the building and report back to reception staff / administrator.
The job the applicant will be doing:
- Mail collection, franking, sorting and distributing – internally & Externally

Sort out all deliveries within store room and deliver to correct departments throughout building

Ordering and delivery of laundry.

Removal of clinical waste and sharp boxes: disposal in appropriate container.

Preparing rooms for meetings, moving furniture and equipment

Responding to alarms throughout the building with the help of reception staff.
- Turning on / off of all public equipment throughout building (example Information screens)

Tap flushing of seldom used rooms throughout the building

Check any faults reported by staff prior to contacting facilities management team via admin team.
- Directing and escorting patients, wheelchairs as necessary

Handing out staff / visitor badges as and when required

Transport of medical gas cylinders
- Security – responsible for internal / external security of building, checking windows and doors. Setting/un setting alarms.
- Clean body fluid spillages in public areas using protection and spillage kit

Changeover of clinical items within rooms – ex blue curtains

Replenish certain stock throughout building – sanitisers on walls / meeting rooms etc.
- Working within clearly defined protocols and procedures, adhering to NHS policies.
- Assistant fire warden for building.
- On Occasions may be asked to help out within another HSCP site.
- Other reasonable requests as and when required
Skills / Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills as will be dealing with various people including staff / general public
- Patient and calm as can deal with irate and upset patients.
- Good team player but also able to work on own initiative.
- Excellent multitasking skills as frequent interruptions
