The Role
The Technical team in Tata Steel look after the development of new products and ensure the quality of our manufacturing processes. It’s a varied and diverse function with responsibilities ranging from chemical and metallurgical testing in laboratories to providing technical expertise to our wide range of customers in the packaging industry.
The people in our Technical teams are analytical, rational thinkers who bring excellent attention to detail to their work. To join us, you need to be self-motivated and persuasive, and keen to be part of a high performing team.
Our Higher Apprentice programme is ideal for those who want to continue to learn while gaining on the job, hands on experience in a post A Level (or equivalent) environment.
The Apprenticeship
The apprentice programme will start 4th September 2023.
Year 1 – As a Paid Tata Higher Apprentice you will:
- Study a Higher Education Academic Qualification (e.g. HNC in Applied Chemistry);
- Start an NVQ Level 4 in Advanced Manufacturing;
- Gain valuable work experience by operating in a number of Laboratories and you will also be involved in live Laboratory based projects assisting the Technologist of the areas
- Undertake further training courses & projects.
Year 2 – In your second year you will:
- Complete your Higher Education Academic Qualification
- Complete your NVQ Level 4;
- Gain valuable work experience by operating in a number of Laboratories and you will also be involved in live Laboratory based projects assisting the Technologist of the areas
- Undertake further training courses & projects
The Candidate
To be considered for our Material Science Higher Apprenticeship Programme you will need to have 5 GCSEs or equivalent (including English Language, Maths & Science) at Grades A* - C or level 4 - 9
And
You will also need to have (or be expected to achieve) two A Levels or equivalent, one of which must be Science, Technology, Maths or Business at Grades A* - C.
