Job Description

Coventry University Health and Wellbeing Services are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced individual to provide practical assistance and advice to students and staff in relation to students who are experiencing mental health difficulties. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can create networks within the university, local services and professional bodies as well as lead a clinical team.

The University Group has several campuses in the UK and students from all campuses can access Student Services. The Post Holder will be responsible for the Clinical Leadership of the University Group. The ability to work collaboratively both within the University and with many other external mental health providers is essential as well as being experienced in supporting and managing a team of clinicians. They would also be responsible for continuing and developing mental health protocols and identifying training requirements within the team.

The successful applicant will have extensive experience of working in a Mental Health and Counselling setting. You will be required to manage a team of Mental Health Advisers and Counsellors and provide psychological support on a one-to-one basis for students with mental health difficulties or learning difficulties with associated behavioural issues. You must be confident in managing students at immediate risk of self- harm and/or suicidal behaviour whilst also being able to support other members of staff.

In addition to researching and developing appropriate resources for students experiencing emotional and mental health difficulties, there will be an expectation to engage with relevant mental health and well-being initiatives.

Full BACP or UKCP Accredited Membership or equivalent and a Clinical Supervisory qualification is a prerequisite of the role.

Experience working in a similar role in Post 16 Education is essential.

In order to satisfy the unpredictable demands of the service, a willingness to work autonomously and flexibly is required. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work efficiently, establishing their own priorities whilst also supporting the team to make judgments and decisions within a complex environment.
