A Cook to work within our Outdoor Education Services at Lancashire County Council.
Do you love to cook tasty and nutritious food, at home or for a living, with aspirations to work within a beautiful, picturesque rural setting… then come and join us at one of Lancashire's most popular residential centres.
Lancashire Outdoor Education Service are proud to be the major provider of outdoor adventure activities and residential facilities to an array of visitors such as schools, businesses and more. We run 3 centres located in both the Cumbrian and Lancashire countryside, Tower Wood, Borwick Hall, and Hothersall lodge - these fantastic sites provide a welcoming space for all to have fun, challenge themselves and learn new skills, all located at a stunning outdoor setting. Hothersall Lodge – This fantastic centre is located in the heart of the picturesque Ribble Valley surrounded by amazing woodland, water, fields, and a canoe lake in seven-acre grounds - we also cater for up to 86 people with the centre being accessible from Ribchester and Longridge
What we'd love you to bring…
Passion for cooking – Ideally, you'll be an experienced cook and have a passion for all things culinary - as you'll be preparing and cooking nutritious food for our residents who will be ready for a day of fun filled activities – you'll get a fantastic opportunity to provide cooked and continental breakfasts, packed lunches and even a two course evening meal, so each day will be a brand new challenge – your creative flair will contribute recipe ideas to the team, whilst understanding that we need to provide food that suits the tastes of our residents - finally be rest assured you'll get to work with local, fresh, quality ingredients so you can help provide the best meals from scratch
Customer focused - The pride you'll have in your cooking will showcase to our customers that you love what you do – so the taste, presentation and high standards of hygiene will all make a difference to our residents experience and the feedback we receive – your knowledge and experience will ensure you understand the importance of individual dietary requirements including allergens, gluten free, nut allergy's & dairy intolerances as it's key to keeping our customers safe and happy, so a real focus on customer service is essential - in addition you'll work with a supportive team in a canteen style kitchen and have access to all the equipment, training and support you'll need to complete your role effectively
