We have put a lot of thought into selecting and sourcing all of our cheese and wines. Our wines include organic, biodynamic, and natural wines from small producers and lesser-known regions, always with quality and accessibility in mind.
Job description
We are seeking an additional experienced bar worker than can also step up to supervisory roles when required to run aspects of the wine bar when needed. If you are a highly motivated, self-starter, and enthusiastic person who would be passionate about bringing cheese and wine to life for our customers, then we'd like to hear from you. Requirements:
- Great knowledge of wines, WSET Level 2 preferred (although training will be provided)
- Prior hospitality, bar, and retail experience
- Excellent customer service skills
- Hardworking, punctual, and a team player who is not afraid to dig in where needed in a very varied role
- Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety preferred
- Hold a personal license (not essential as we can provide training)
- Previous bar manager/asst manager/supervisor experience necessary
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Super communication and interpersonal skills.
- Desire to help develop and grow a new small business into a great brand.
- Ability to come up with creative solutions and think outside the box.
Position Details:
- Work within a supervisory role for existing FOH staff and also perform the general bar duties typically required in the industry
- Based in Whitchurch, North Cardiff functions both as a cheese and wine bar & shop.
- 20+ hours a week including evenings and weekends (will allow for flexibility)
- 20% Staff discount.
- Reporting to the Bar/shop Director, alongside a close-knit team.
- You will guide our customers through their discovery of cheese and wine, ensuring that we are a go-to destination for this experience.
- You will help to ensure customers have a great experience when joining us for a drink by bringing your wine knowledge and customer relationship skills to life.
- Our people are our greatest asset and you will be an ambassador for our brand, ensuring you’re up to date with our latest offerings; whether that is promoting our vouchers or signposting to upcoming events.
Bar Manager responsibilities:
- Working and running the bar/venue/retail aspect which includes daily opening, running, and closing of the venue.
- Involved in recruiting front-of-house staff and providing necessary training
- Hiring, training, retaining, and motivating staff.
- Setting and enforcing quality and hygiene standards.
- Managing stock levels, orders, and deliveries, in conjunction with the director
- Making improvements to the general running and efficiency of the bar.
- Help develop and grow the retail/takeaway/events side of the business.
- Help in planning and taking part in wine-focused events.
Due to this being a new role and business venture, it is likely that certain job aspects and duties will change in line with the direction the company takes.
