Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Contract: 12 months FTC
Salary Grade: £32,000 - £37,000
Location : Springvale, Belfast, Northern Ireland
Benefits: 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), contributory pension scheme (Caterpillar will double the employee’s contributions up to 10%), contributory share scheme (Caterpillar will match 50% of the employee’s contributions), CAT Advantage (retail discount app)
Currently the Springvale Facility works 4 days per week, Monday through to Thursday as their core hours.
Other flexible working arrangements will be considered for this role, in-line with the needs of the business.

The Advanced Components (ACM) division spans seven countries and has 5,000+ employees. We deliver operational excellence in manufacturing drivetrain, hydraulic components and operator stations, producing components valued greater than $3B.
The Advanced Components Manufacturing Engineering Team in the Springvale site is responsible for designing and defining the process to successfully execute the assembly, test and paint processes within the facility. The facility produces drivetrain components – Axles and Transmissions.
Due to increased business requirements we have a vacancy at our Springvale facility in Belfast for a Manufacturing Engineer based in our Axle Assembly Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Line ownership with responsibilities for key KPI including Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost.
Lead the introduction of new products and processes (NPI)
Conduct problem solving and hold Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations.
Managing safety, quality and process improvements on an assembly line.
Identify, define and implement process quality and process design steps in line with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements
Identify, purchase and co-ordinate the installation of tooling, equipment, machinery and capital expenditure projects
Ensure that Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles are applied through the product development process
Ensure new product and process implementations meet safety requirements
Ensure accurate new product costing through Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing accuracy
Co-ordinate and implement complex engineering changes
Required:
A degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical engineering and/or relevant manufacturing experience.
The ability to read engineering drawings
Successful candidates will be computer literate in Microsoft Office.
Experience with Assembly line balancing.
Experience with leading RCCA investigations and implementing solutions.
Desired
Experience and knowledge of Six sigma, Lean Manufacturing practices and/or APQP
Experience of SAP or another MRP/ERP system.
Experience in 3D CAD
Introducing new products into a manufacturing environment
Project management experience; with the introduction of new products and complex engineering changes
