POST 3D Facilitator
DEPARTMENT Creative Arts
SALARY £12,044.37 - £14,743.79 (pro rata to part time / term time contract)
HOURS 21 hours per week – 42 weeks per annum

RESPONSIBLE TO Head of School – Creative Arts
The Department of Creative Arts offers a range of both A Level and vocational art & design specialist courses. The department has a broad student intake from Level 1 to 5. The department has four specialist dedicated workshops individually equipped for 3D model making, ceramics, printmaking and photography including darkrooms and studio. The teaching and learning within the department have a high standard of innovation and skill.
We have excellent progression for our learners either to Higher Education, Apprenticeships and employment. We have a group of facilitators within the department overseeing
Ceramics, Glass, 3D, Print, Photography, Media and Music Technology.
JOB PURPOSE
The facilitator will have the expertise to support students in producing practical work in the specialist workshops. This will include whole group inductions and demonstrations as well as working on a one-to one basis with individual students on personal project development.
The facilitator will ensure that the designated workshops are safe working environments for staff and students. The specialist workshops are to be maintained with some support from the estates team or external contractors/suppliers. Consumable resources and supplies are to be monitored and replenished in preparation for the students’ creative developmental work.
The facilitator will be proactive in supporting all courses within the department with physical and practical resources. This will include in the studio base rooms, the ordering and managing of stock and its storage and the setting up of rooms for open events, exhibitions and performances. The facilitator may occasionally be required to accompany staff and students on educational visits.
MAIN FACILITATOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To deliver all workshop inductions for both students and staff.
- Run workshop sessions alongside with the teaching team.
- Help in portfolio building as required.
- To maintain high standards of Health and Safety for staff and students at all times, to include the completion and updating of risk assessments for specialist workshops and studios.
- To manage the ordering of materials in the department, ensuring budgets are adhered to and stock levels monitored and maintained.
- To manage physical resources for effective teaching and learning including the organisation of rooms, preparation of materials, equipment and processes.
- To participate in the physical setting up and taking down of exhibition panels used for open events and end of year exhibitions.
- To accompany teaching staff on educational visits when required.
- To attend section, team and college meetings as appropriate.
- To show commitment to professional development and to keep up to date with developments within the specialist field and subject areas including new exam board specifications.
- Generate instructional materials and resources for students to follow that will assist the development of their technical skills; for e.g., posters, handouts and video content.
- Contribute marketing content on social media platforms to help promote the Creative Industries school. For e.g., images and video content of student work, trips and enrichment activities.
