Job Description

Hospital Porter | Porter Department | Manual Handling, Customer Service | Spire Edinburgh | Permanent Contract | Free Parking | Own Transport ESSENTIAL | Excellent Benefits |

Spire Edinburgh has expanded its services and as a result, we have a brand new opportunity for a Hospital porter. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced healthcare professional to join our team and play a critical role in this period of growth!

It is essential you have your own form of transport, as travel between hospitals may be required for this position.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To collect and dispose of refuse, both domestic and clinical where full infection control training will be provided.
  • There may be an element of driving in this role.
  • To ensure the maintenance of good working relationships, communications and team work in the hospital and within the department.
  • Manual Handling – There may be times where you will need to move furniture across different departments of the hospital.
  • To assist with the general security of the hospital and associated grounds – as well as reception/switchboard duties as required.
  • Carry out any other duty that reasonably falls within the general nature and level of responsibility of the post.

. Who we're looking for

  • Strong Customer Service experience – You will be dealing with patients face-to-face where you will be escorting them to their rooms, from wards to theatres/imaging. So a background in building a good rapport is certainly required.
  • Manual Handling – There is a physical element of this role where you may sometimes need to move furniture/hospital beds across the hospital to different rooms and departments.
  • Whilst no formal qualifications are required you must be able to communicate with other members of staff and patients clearly and your personal appearance must be of a high standard, expected in a professional healthcare environment.
  • Ability to assimilate different customer requirements and prioritise critical deliverables
