Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Quality Manager you will be part of a dedicated Quality team at Birtley committed to producing and delivering the highest quality products to the customer.
Building excellent relationships with colleagues as well as customers to support and facilitate quality protocols within the Birtley organisation to ensure full compliance of products to customer requirements and/or BS EN standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Adhering to organisational HSE requirements as applicable to the job role.
- Take the lead on shift for identification of, and response to, internal quality concerns
- Coordinating internal communication on quality issues between manufacturing departments and shifts.
- Conducting and coordinating inspections, sort and validation activities with material as required.
- Attending the daily production meetings to feedback on Shift Quality, discuss issues and actions.
- Taking decisions on suspect material in accordance with agreed standards, customer specifications, and drawings, and escalating on when necessary.
- Responsible for decision making regarding determination of defect, acceptance, and rejection of parts.
- Technically up to date with EN BS standards and customer standards.
- Ensure testing activities and inspections are carried out in-line with production delivery requirements, focusing on OTD, short lead time and minimum WIP levels.
- Full compliance of testing procedures and results reported correctly to EN, BS standards, sample preparation.
- Verify customer – internal and external quality concerns and manage customer complaints.
- Complete test/inspection requirements of plants systems, Cimalex or Movex
- Support continuous improvement, Opex activities and support the EBS champion on site.
- Visit customers or attend customer meetings following quality concerns or to improve quality and customer service.
- Assist BSI, Group audits or customer audits and other compliance activities.
- Ensure test and measurement equipment is identified and within the calibration.
- Support department measurement reporting and preparation
- Control new shape introduction with Weld Assessments, Drift testing and Front and back scrap allowance validation
- Carry out dimensional inspection and reports using verniers and romidot machine.
- Back-up support on tensile test machining and tensile test testing operation
Work Experience:
- 2 Years experience in a manufacturing environment
Education:
- Degree in an Engineering related subject
