Are you ready to leave the desk behind?

To make a difference to local communities?

Build long lasting and trusting relationships?

If this sounds like you, the recruitment window is now open for PCSO applications across the Humberside Police Force area!

Humberside Police welcomed our first PCSOs to our policing family back in 2006. Since then, while PCSOs have always been a fundamental part of our approach to Neighbourhood Policing, their role has changed considerably. Today, PCSOs are the face of our local community - working with partners and community groups to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, to gather intelligence and to provide crime prevention advice while supporting and sharing information with wider police colleagues.

As a PCSO you will be an accessible and visible uniformed presence in local communities, building confidence, trust, and reassurance in the Police. As a PCSO you will be a key liaison point between communities and policing, this can come in many different forms such as building evidence for the early identification of crime.

PCSOs adopt a problem-solving approach to their work, to address issues in the community such as anti-social behaviour. Working within your team and with your wider colleagues is critical to ensuring your success. A close working relationship with partner agencies is also important, as they will help support you with activities such as early intervention in preventing crime within children and young people.

Through regular engagement with residents and others in the local area, as a PCSO you will have a unique insight and opportunity to gather information and build relationships that will help enhance resident’s trust and confidence in Humberside Police. This deep community connection is key in helping protect our most vulnerable residents and while also supporting our local communities to become safer, stronger and more resilient.

PCSOs have never been more vital in the success of our local Neighbourhood Policing teams - which are most effective when there is a strong local community connection. As a PCSO you have the potential to make a significant and hugely positive impact, benefitting our local communities not only today but for many years to come.
