Shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins, weekends and bank holidays. You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £61.20 for any sleep in shifts carried out. The payment for sleep ins is non-contractual.
You will be required to work a variety of shifts on a rota basis, which includes weekends and bank holidays. The shifts vary from early to late (usually ranging from 7am to 10pm) and include sleep ins (sleep ins are when you stay the night at the service and sleep in the staff room). You may be asked to occasionally work in our other services as well.
Driver is desirable but not essential, as long as you can get to the services without being dependent on public transport due to early and late shift times.
About the Service
There are three gentlemen living there; one of them is non-verbal so you need to be good at communicating with people. There is some personal care, but mainly prompting. They enjoy movies, music, Lego, and football!
Each service has got different individuals with different needs, varying from high and more complex needs to more independent individuals. What they all have in common is that you will be supporting them in their daily lives to live as independently as they can and to achieve their goals!
No two days will be the same and having a passion for caring is a must. It is important that you are able to find creative ways to engage with the people you will be supporting to help remove barriers and empower the individuals to learn new skills. Each individual has their own personality, hobbies and interests that they enjoy.
We put the people we support at the heart of Mencap. We are only looking for committed people, as continuity and routine is essential for the people we support.
It is essential that you are calm and approachable, but possess the ability to be assertive when the situation requires.
Does it sound like you are the person we are looking for? Apply now!
