Data Cabling Engineer
WPS Group are looking for experienced Data Cabling Engineers to join our Stoke on Trent based team.
Your role will be to install copper and fibre optic cabling solutions, for our local and national clients in a range of sectors from manufacturing, healthcare, education and retail.
Most of the time you will be assisting the re-cabling of retail or healthcare environments and you will have very little new build / site work.
You will have the confidence to work independently and as part of a team assisting and developing trainee engineers. You must be experienced enough to find solutions to overcome onsite challenges.
Due to the nature and location of some of our customers, you will be required to work away and work out of normal working hours at night and weekends (Saturdays, very rarely Sundays) from time to time if the customer requires this. In return you will receive door to door travel, overtime rates for evening and weekends on top of other benefits and rewards.
There will be plenty of opportunity to earn more through overtime and bonuses or to use overtime to take additional time off, as well as a clear career progression plan.
The successful candidate will have:
· Excellent customer service
· Ability to complete reports and paperwork as required.
· A Full UK Driving Licence
· You will be required to pass a DBS check (speak to us confidentially if you are worried about this)
· CSCS / ECS Card (preferred but not essential)
· IPAF and PASMA Licence (preferred but not essential)
Experience required:
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
· Experience in the installation and termination of Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6A copper cabling systems.
· Experience in the installation and splicing of fibre optic cabling systems.
· Experience of testing copper and fibre optic systems to industry standards using Fluke Network Cable Analysers (DSX-5000, DSX-8000 or similar), OTDRs and Optical Light Loss testers.
· Installation of containment systems including PVC mini trunking, dado, cable tray and baskets
· Installation of wall mounted and free standing cabinets and accessories
· Ability to plan cable routes, overcome challenges and
· Understanding of Wireless Networks and installation of Wireless Access Points
Preferred but not essential:
· Installation of IP security systems such as CCTV and Door Access Control systems
· Installation of Audio Visual such as display screens, IWBs and projectors
· Experience of racking and patching of network equipment such as network switches
· Undertake Network Audits and complete reports and paperwork
