Not just another building society. Not just another job.
We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders, we're owned by our members.
Our colleague say Skipton's a great place to work and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.
Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.
Job Description:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our expanding Credit Risk team as a Senior Credit Risk Analyst.

Our Credit Risk team use the latest tools to turn data into insight and maintain robust controls to manage current and future credit risks. We provide a framework within which the business can grow responsibly and sustainably. Our opportunities are mainly focussed in the Capital and Impairment provision teams.

What you will be doing

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • You will operate in a highly regulated environment, working autonomously to critically analyse a range of internal and external data to explore drivers of risk, supporting activity such as strategic/capital planning and stress testing.
  • You’ll use insight to make recommendations, effectively communicating these to stakeholders and working collaboratively to implement change, such as ensuring credit risk is appropriately reflected in our mortgage pricing.
  • Increase efficiency and automation using coding packages and analytical tools, for example making improvements to the processes used to report capital and impairment metrics for regulatory, internal, and external purposes.
  • Support other analysts and colleagues throughout, promoting an inclusive environment that values, encourages and supports difference.
  • We’ll support your development, providing opportunities to work flexibly across the Credit Risk team whilst advancing your technical skills. We’re also here to support your career progression.
  • Evolving our approach to portfolio risk management using capital and impairment metrics.

What you will bring

The key competencies for this role are:
  • Experience in an analytical role
  • Experience of analytical tools such as but not limited to SAS/SQL/R/Python
  • Experience in communicating complex information in concise language
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of process and controls
If you’re interested in working with us but are unsure if you have the right skills and experience we’d still love to hear from you.
We care about our colleagues. So we treat each other like the complex and diverse individuals we are.
Work here is never one-size-fits-all, it flexes around your strengths and needs,
Everyone is held accountable for achieving our common purpose. The aim is for all of us to do better work, have a better life and enjoy a better balance between the two.
