them into custody.
About the role
We are now looking for a Substance Misuse Worker to join our Resettlement Team.
Reporting to the Drug Strategy Manager, the Substance Misuse Worker will provide a full professional service to prisoners on drug use and treatment services in support of rehabilitation processes.
Some of the key responsibilities to this role are:
- Provide information, advice and support to sentenced drug users in drug use and treatment services to provide them with appropriate opportunities for rehabilitation.
- Provide an assessment and referral service to sentenced drug users to link them directly with community based treatment and rehabilitation or drug services within other prisons.
- Liaise with agencies within the criminal justice field and drug treatment and rehabilitation services to support the development of treatment plans.
- Prepare reports as required to support prisoner information for courts, parole and sentence planning boards.
- Conduct one to one work with selected prisoners to meet individual needs.
- Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.
About you

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must, as well as working proactively and have critical thinking & problem-solving skills.
It is essential that you have experience of working within a multifunctional and demanding environment. You will be a dynamic and engaging individual with a good sense of humour.
