An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, focused and enthusiastic Pathology Reception Manager. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of pathology reception at our hub laboratory at William Harvey Hospital (WHH), Ashford.
Applicants should have management experience, solid people skills, excellent interpersonal sensitivity and the ability to multitask. In addition to this you will be expected to work with a variety of different staff and operate in sometimes challenging situations in order to maintain a safe, responsive and high quality operations response to modern demand.
You will be part of dynamic front line blood science team that provides specialist and acute services 24-7 365 to the patients of East Kent.
The Pathology department comprises of Clinical Biochemistry, Immunology, Haematology and Blood Transfusion, Haemostasis and Thrombosis, Cellular Pathology and Microbiology.
Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion services are provided on all three acute hospital sites at The William Harvey Hospital (WHH) at Ashford, Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital (QEQMH) at Margate and Kent and Canterbury Hospital (K&CH). Centralised Cellular Pathology and Microbiology services are provided to all three acute hospital sites within EKHUFT from the WHH site. Immunology is also provided from the WHH site. Haemostasis and Thrombosis Laboratory is located within the Haemophilia Centre based at K&CH.
- Take technical charge of and be immediately responsible for the of the multidisciplinary reception areas, deploying staff and resources as appropriate.
- The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation and maintenance of work flow within the general Pathology reception and the send away section of the laboratory.
- Ensure that the quality of laboratory work is performed to a satisfactory standard at all times, is to a consistently high standard across the Trust and compliant with UKAS ISO 15189 accreditation.
- A key part of the postholder’s role will be to develop and implement systems and procedures within the department to enable the service to run effectively, and to ensure it complies with legal requirements.
