Job Description

Promote and develop robust working relationships with internal staff and external agencies and organisations.
Work closely with the clinical Divisions to maintain a quality and safe service for the Trust.
Lead the administrative and clinical requirements of the workforce hub.

This post creates an exciting opportunity to join the nursing workforce hub at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. We are looking for a clerical assistant apprentice to join our hardworking, responsive and innovative team. You will need good energy, a polite confidence and a focus on great ‘customer’ care.

As a clerical assistant you will be responsible for:

Promotion and development of robust working relationships with internal staff and external agencies and organisations.
Work closely with the clinical Divisions to maintain a quality and safe service for the Trust.
Lead the administrative and clinical requirements of the workforce hub.
Updating databases and resources.

In this post you will be provided with the education and training to develop the skills and knowledge required in the role. You will be working in a dynamic team in which your contribution and idea generation will be respected and encouraged. Our team is working in a pioneering way and therefore this is a real exciting opportunity to join our team as we aim to improve a centrally coordinated approach to safe staffing in order to support high quality patient care and staff wellbeing.

As this is an Apprentice post as well as learning and performing the job role you will also be studying and completing the Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship. Please be advised if you already hold a qualification in Business Administration or higher you are NOT eligible to apply.

To be eligible for this apprenticeship post you must meet the criteria below: -

Be over 16 years old
Be able to work in the UK without any restriction (e.g., have a valid visa for the duration of the apprenticeship)
Have been lawfully living in the United Kingdom or any other member state of the EEA for the last 3 years

PLEASE NOTE: Although this post is initially offered as a fixed term contract, the post will become permanent on successful completion of the apprenticeship.

To undertake and co-ordinate clerical and administrative duties essential for the smooth running of the Nursing Workforce Hub

Under the leadership of our Chair, Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive we provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

As we recover from Covid-19, we’re proud to be leading the way in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and this will be one of the many benefits of our closer collaboration with Barts Health. Working with them and with all our partners across north east London, we will find a sustainable solution to enhance patient care.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
