Job summary

The Secure Media Manager is responsible for the overall management and whole-life accounting for all deployed and static magnetic media allocated to the unit. Accounting is in accordance with the JSP440 and the business needs of the unit.

The Secure Media Manager is responsible for the running of the Department, including the line management of the Civilian staff. The post may require liaison with MOD security and IT authorities on local security policy issues, and providing advice on security reviews and investigations. The Secure Media Manager is also responsible for implementation of magnetic media awareness and training for the unit as required.

Due to the nature of the role, this post requires full time attendance at the Hereford office. Remote working is not available for this post.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

Manage the Secure Media Cell (SMC) ensuring that all magnetic media and associated assets are whole-life accounted for at all times.

Ensure all receipts and issues are completed on time and in the correct format, and enforcing the requirement that all paperwork is signed and in date.

Ensure that all SMC staff maintain an accurate account of all assets, ensuring that all issue/receipt paperwork is in date.

Creation, amendment and publishing of policies, processes and practices for the SMC and its staff, ensuring staff are aware and trained on any publication issued.

Conduct analysis of magnetic media records on a regular basis to identify any actions required to maintain or improve levels of service.

Manage the Secure Media Accountants to ensure that they are trained and equipped with the necessary skills and resources to deliver services to agreed levels.

There is a physical aspect to the Secure Media Manager role, with the manual handling of equipment being a part of the day-to-day requirements of the position, alongside prolonged periods of computer/desk-based work.
