We are looking for a Cook to be based in one of our Community Resource Centre (CRC) at Charlton House Resource Centre in Keynsham on a part time basis on permanent contract.
Charlton House is a residential and nursing care home that provides care and health services in a safe environment for older vulnerable adults with a variety of disabilities. It offers a broad range of activities which aim to promote independence by developing or maintaining and enhancing people’s skills, interests, and abilities.
Within the Cook role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a fantastic team of carers, catering professionals and support teams. As the Cook you will help to prepare and serve well cooked and appetising meals within a set budget.
We have one permanent part time role of 21 hours which involves a rota system, working every other weekend with some bank holidays for which enhancements are paid.
What is a Community Resource Centre (CRC)?
Bath and North East Somerset have three care homes which are Community Resource Centres located in Keynsham, Bath and Midsomer Norton. Each Community Resource Centre includes a residential care home for between 30 and 45 people, and these homes provide important services to older people in our community. We provide care and health services in a comfortable, safe environment for older vulnerable adults with a variety of disabilities, including dementia.
As a Cook:
- Food Handling & Hygiene certificate.
- Strong team player who has collaborative work style.
- To demonstrate current knowledge about the dietary needs for older people. Awareness of special dietary needs relating to health conditions.
- Good communication skills both orally and written.
- Must be flexible and adaptable and deal effectively with challenging situations.
- Ability to cope with conflicting demands and deadlines. Works well under pressure.
- Experience of working in catering environments.

This post attracts a welcome payment of 5% of the starting salary for the grade to enable individuals to join our permanent workforce. This is payable upon successful completion of your probationary period and is subject to eligibility criteria.
