A brilliant opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Head Nurse role at a RCVS accredited 24 hour animal hospital in Gateshead, located within easy commuting distance to Newcastle City Centre, (renowned for its culture), the North East coast and the beautiful countryside of Durham and Northumberland.
Our client is looking for an experienced Veterinary Nurse who is highly motivated, works well in a team and thrives in the varied environment of a veterinary hospital. Your role will include hospitalised inpatient care, day patient procedures and after care, theatre procedures and after care including orthopaedic procedures, laboratory work, radiography, and dental radiography. You will also assist the Head Nurse with stock control and biannual stock takes, the training and supervision of the auxiliary nurses, equipment maintenance and training and ensuring legations and SOPs are up to date.
You will be joining a team of 15 veterinary surgeons, 22 RVN's, 3 SVN's, 10 auxiliary nurses and 11 receptionists. They also have a Veterinary surgeon who holds RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery and a number of vets who hold a GPcertSAM.
The hospital is fully equipped with the most up to date technology including digital radiography, dental radiography, flexible and rigid endoscopes, in house lab including haematology, biochemistry and EPOC machines, excellent ultrasound machine with doppler and a wide range of specialised equipment for performing most soft tissue, orthopaedic and endoscopy surgeries.
Candidates must be dedicated to progress their knowledge and practical skills to ensure they fully support the vets with a range of potentially complex and critical cases. An experience of nurse consults is also highly desirable. RVN qualification is essential.
The Role:
- Full Time role - 4 day working week
- Shift patterns are: 6.45am - 4.45pm, 8.00am - 6.30pm and 8.30am - 6.30pm
- 1:4 Saturday or Sunday rota (6.45am - 6.30pm)
- No OOH
