Job Description

Role Summary

This role of a Patient Transport Liaison Officer is to work directly with the Salisbury Discharge Team to ensure that patient flow in and out of the healthcare setting is maximised to deliver the highest level of care with strong communication skills. They are also required to work alongside trust teams, patients, E-zec control, plan & dispatch and road teams to ensure effective communication across the service.

In addition to traditional PTLO responsibilities, the post holder will be responsible for the direct line management of 9 FTE staff who provide the dedicated discharge resourcing for the Salisbury Discharge Contract.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Attend daily bed-management meetings with clinical site/bed managers, ward matrons, department walk-around(s). Where applicable.
  • Effectively handle sensitive situations & remain calm under pressure.
  • Maintain confidentiality in relation to personal data held on patients or colleagues.
  • Comply with health & safety regulations at all times.
  • Identify and report actual or potential hazards/risks in the working environment in accordance with company policy.
  • Work with Salisbury District Hospital to ensure KPIs are achieved. Pharmacy and discharging department to ensure priority processes for patient TTOs, where applicable.
  • Liaise with Care Package and discharge planning teams.
  • Ensure road and office teams are working to E-zec policies and procedures.
  • Ensure their designated road staff have a clean and tidy appearance and are wearing the correct uniform.
  • Correct resources are deployed meeting the Trust and patients’ requirements.
  • Resources (vehicles and road teams) are allocated to correct patient mobility.
  • Support with incidents and complaints.
  • Monitor escalation processes for their responsible area and liaise with Day Control, Head of Patient Transport Services and SSOTP supplying all escalation data on a regular basis with supporting data and actions moving forward.
  • Keep up to date with changes in policies and procedures and undertake all necessary training.
  • Conduct appraisals and probationary reviews with Ambulance Care Assistants in line with Company policy.
  • Ensure all areas of contract deliver excellent patient service by delivering Annual Skills Development training and conducting driving assessments as and when required.
  • Conduct property risk assessments as and when required to ensure safe and suitable access for Ambulance Crews.
  • Be visible and maintain a physical presence across the contract.
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as an when required.

For this role you must possess a valid and current UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points.

This a 37.5 hour a week contract, Monday to Friday with flexibility required to work hours from 08:00 – 20:00 to ensure that all operational team members have visibility of management and a high level of engagement and direction.
