Requirements of a Support Worker
- A caring attitude
- The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
- Good listening and communication skills
- Experience in dealing with challenging behaviours and using de-escalation techniques
- To work in a trauma informed way
- The ability to understand and follow policies and procedures
- Good writing skills to fill in documentation
- Where appropriate to participate in child case planning meetings, case reviews, case conferences and LAC reviews concerning children & families
- Stimulate young people on how to use and make wise choices
- Working in partnership with young people, their social worker and carers and other relevant agencies
- Direct work with young people, key working and generally taking an active part in providing support on a shift work basis
