We’re looking for a Speechwriter to research and write compelling briefing notes, speeches, scripts and social media posts for the Group Chief Executive and Group Chairman. This means you will help to advance HSBC’s strategic and commercial objectives, while enhancing the its reputation with target audiences.

In this role, you will:
- Work with the Head of Executive Communications to design, lead and implement an external communications plan for the Group Chief Executive and Group Chairman.
- Work with the Head of Executive Communications, speakers, event organizers, Group Communications and Brand colleagues, and business lines and functions to research, craft and deliver high quality, timely written communications products to their completion – from agreeing the parameters of external speaking roles, to managing approvals to appropriate timescales, to producing the final materials for delivery and post-event promotion.
- Contribute to the drafting of materials for corporate events, including materials for quarterly financial results, the Annual General Meeting and Informal Shareholders Meeting, and investor events.
- Provide input and guidance to help develop messaging on a range of internal and external topics.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
Essential:
- A highly experienced Writer – able to demonstrate a portfolio of suitable written materials in support of senior executives or officials within the corporate or public arenas
- Track record of advising and interacting with C-suite executives and Board members
- Expert knowledge, experience and evidence of writing speeches, briefings, social media posts, and other communications collateral for senior executives or officials to a very high standard
- Demonstrable understanding of the needs of senior leaders in undertaking communications activities and an ability to both anticipate those needs in advance and work with stakeholders to ensure they are met
- Experience of developing compelling and innovative written content across a range of formats, and with diverse and sometimes complex subject matter.
- Ability to understand business issues and make the complex simple, turning information and data into compelling communications.
- Experience in developing thought leadership
- Experience of working in a complex, international matrix organisation and diverse culture.
- Breadth of knowledge of financial services, geopolitics and macroeconomic trends.
The base location for this role is London/Hybrid.
