Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Artist Assistant to join our busy Art Studio in Soho. Working closely with Production Manager’s to manage a small team of Artist Assistants’.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Studio supervision of production of artworks, having regular meetings with the management to discuss production progress, refinement of process etc.
- Looking after and maintaining tools and any work related equipment.
- Moving and lifting artwork and materials under supervision.
- Working with the tech team to hang and move artworks across various locations
- Overseeing photography in the studio
- Must be clean and tidy
- Research for future projects as instructed by studio manager
- Assemble, construct and disassemble artworks where required
- Must be commercially minded and able to think clearly at all times about the impact of cost, quality and time to all projects no matter how small
- Working to tight deadlines and being aware of and being able to produce work at levels of quality needed.
- Ensuring best practice in the studio, on site, transporting and storage of works is adhered to.
- Overseeing the Artist Assistants in terms of work ethic, timekeeping and agreed quality level as directed by management.
- Giving feedback on Artist Assistant’s performance to management
- Working to the requirements of the company
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong drawing and draftsman skills
- Experience of fabrication and installation of mainly 2D artwork projects
- Strong colour theory and painting skills
- Art handling/packing and hanging experience
- Mac literate
- Good level of fitness
- Knowledge of painting techniques and materials
- Strong time management skills
- Must be able to respond quickly to changing requests/briefs
- Excellent communication
- Able to follow and improve upon defined work processes.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: From £27,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
