THE CHALLENGE
The purpose of the Safeguarding Support Officer is to support activities to ensure that Healios meets its responsibilities to safeguard/protect children, young people and vulnerable adults/adults at risk. You will report to the Healios Safeguarding Lead (SL) and be supported by the safeguarding officers in you role.
The role of the Safeguarding Support Officer is critical to supporting and contributing to early intervention strategies, ensuring that cases of suspected or actual child/vulnerable adult protection or safeguarding concerns are referred to the appropriate agencies. You will support clinical staff to ensure that all aspects of the safeguarding process is followed. You will have a crucial role within the team in risk assessing, coordinating, quality assuring, monitoring and following up on external referrals made.

- A recognised qualification relevant to the health care sector at degree level or above. [Essential]

THE ROLE
- Support the internal safeguarding team with all duties and responsibilities
- Be available for staff to discuss any safeguarding issues or concerns, with support from the safeguarding officers
- Provide advice (direct and indirect) to clinical staff on the assessment, management and referral pathways for safeguarding, early help and managing risk, with support from the safeguarding officers.
- To liaise directly with clients, families to seek further information to inform the assessment of risk.
- Support the safeguarding team to ensure that cases of suspected or actual abuse / risk concerns are referred to the appropriate agencies
- To be involved in quality assuring safeguarding processes and referrals
- To follow up on outcomes of safeguarding referrals with local authorities and the young people and families that we support.
- To present reports and information to appropriate protection conferences and related meetings as required
- support with consent, MCA, DOLs/LPS
- Work closely with other safeguarding professionals across the Healios services
- Liaise with professional leads from other agencies, such as referring bodies, education and children's social care as required
- Work with the safeguarding team to ensure that Healios safeguarding procedures are fully embedded
- Contribute to the dissemination and implementation of organisational policies and procedures
- Contribute to monitoring the quality and effectiveness of services, including auditing and monitoring performance against indicators and standards

- Attend relevant local, regional, and national continuing professional development activities to maintain competencies

As part of our pre-employment checks, all employees of Healios will be asked to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Dependent on your role within the business, this will either be an Enhanced or Basic. A Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check will be required. You will also be asked to provide two professional references as a minimum.
