Job description

The Radiation Consents Manager role is based in Field Operations Division, which is the largest operational division within HSE. You will join a small Radiation Operational Support team working in the larger operational support community.

The Consents Manager role is to contribute to the delivery of HSE’s strategy and FOD’s plan of work by playing a key role in the development, testing and implementation of a new process for radiation registrations and consent requests. The consents manager will work alongside in-house IT to develop an existing database which will be utilised by duty holders, operational support teams and regulatory colleagues. They will develop new procedures and analysis tools alongside the SAM and SRO for the project enabling a smooth transition into the process. They work together with operational support, visiting staff and regulatory colleagues to help ensure consistency of process and delivery. They provide provision of management information and undertake data quality assurance.

This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your allocated office will be your contractual place of work. There will be a requirement to travel to the office for various activities e.g., collaborative working, supporting and training colleagues.

Therefore, we would encourage candidates to consider if the commute from home to the office is a feasible distance to travel before making an application. Due to the project being developed within Bootle, you will be required to work within this office primarily, there may be occasions where you need to travel to other offices and potential for overnight stays.

Responsibilities

As part of your role you will:


  • Interact with a wide group of colleagues within HSE at all levels.
  • Provide insight and impact on behalf of the operational support community whilst design, development and testing is undertaken in the new process.
  • Communicate with Divisional Office Support Teams and others as the project develops.
  • Develop and help manage operational support procedures and targeting and intelligence process to enable staff to target inspection and gain maximum efficiency for HSE
  • Link and share work and good practice wherever possible. Communicating between offices / divisions to ensure work can overlap in key areas.
  • Acquire an understanding and knowledge of relevant operational procedures and become familiar with a range of work activities. Initiate and develop new approaches to targeting work.
  • Undertake the full range of key responsibilities, backed up by training, coaching and personal support as necessary.
  • Strong IT knowledge and an inquiring, adaptable approach to work.

Essential Skills

  • Good strong knowledge of all microsoft packages, including Excel.
  • Experience of working within a customer service environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Working knowledge of HSE’s key IT systems and packages (COIN, QlikView, Find-It, Excel, etc)

Interviews

Interviews will take place week commencing 27th February 2023 via MS Teams and you will be interviewed on 3 strength based questions and the following 4 behaviour:
