Applications are invited for the post of Project Library Assistant working within the Cory and Herbarium Libraries.
The post holder will work with the Assistant Librarian on a project to move stock from Cory Lodge in Cambridge University Botanic Garden into the newly merged Cory & Herbarium Libraries located in the Sainsbury Laboratory. The Cory & Herbarium Libraries support the work of staff and students at the Department of Plant Sciences and the Cambridge University Herbarium, and the professional practice of staff at Cambridge University Botanic Garden. The project is a key priority for the School of Biological Sciences Libraries to improve access to and long-term preservation of the physical collection.
This will involve removing items from the shelves, re-housing where necessary, packing into crates and moving into an adjacent building. Careful attention to detail will be required throughout the process of moving the library's unique and significant periodical collections, following best practice for library collections care in relation to handling, paying particular attention to historic and fragile material.
