About the Employer
I am both the employer and mother to my twin boys. One of my sons has been allocated a direct payment to support him to access social opportunities on a 1-1 basis, allowing me quality time with his sibling and provide a break from my caring role. My son is on the autistic spectrum and has recently been diagnosed with a severe learning disability I am seeking a PA to support him in accessing activities away from the family home and encouraging him to socialize with some one other than his family members. He is a young boy with an abundance of energy so will require someone who is willing to get involved and engage in his chosen activities Due to his disability and young age, he still wears nappies and will require a PA to support with personal care- toileting when out and about He is a generally a very sociable young boy who enjoys the outdoors and chatting to passers by and very much enjoys adult attention. He does not particularly like being in crowded places or like loud noises, so will wear his ear defenders to minimize any frustration or distress this causes. He is happy little boy who loves most activities associated to his age, soft plays, trampoline parks, outdoor parks and equipment, going to the beach or for walks and has a particular passion for traveling to train/metro stations to watch the barriers go up and down and sitting within the stations to watch the metros go past. He also enjoys travelling by bus and other forms of public transport. He has use of a specialized buggy for outdoors, this assists when he becomes tired or offers a feeling of security in unfamiliar places. He may display some unwanted behaviors if he becomes upset or anxious, resulting in him lashing out towards others, biting, kicking, hitting, or swearing. The successful candidate will need to be mindful of this and able to manage their own feelings to allow the situation to deescalate through patience and understanding as well as considering distraction techniques
