Junior Java Developer
Northampton

As a Barclays Junior Java Developer, you will be responsible for several duties throughout the software development lifecycle from concept and design, to testing. You will contribute to all stages of software development life-cycle, implement applications, that can be high-volume and low-latency, create detailed design documentation, conduct analysis, testing and debugging with a hands-on approach in Java, Spring Boot, Angular, MS SQL Server and Sonar on a daily basis.

What will you be doing?
• Working as an individual contributor to develop code and support the team on deliverables
  • Developing fully functional modules that meet all the specifications and have successfully passed all tests including unit, integration, regression and system tests
  • Estimating level of effort required to develop code that meets acceptance criteria
  • Participating in regular release process
  • Participating in defect triaging and helping to identify issues
  • Building relationships with other team members, business analysts and designers
  • Tracking and highlighting all Risks/Issues/Dependencies/Assumptions in the requirement till closure
What we’re looking for:
• Proficiency in Java and sound understanding of Object-Oriented Programming concepts, Spring Boot Framework, API development
  • Experience in building rich user interface using Angular
  • Experience with MS SQL Server, Oracle database
  • Understanding of building tools such as Maven, Gradle, Ant etc. and code versioning tool, for instance, Git
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Knowledge of Test/Behaviour Driven Development (including test automation and mocking tools)
  • Knowledge of building automated testing platforms and unit testing
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration
  • Knowledge or exposure to any cloud platform is an advantage

Where will you be working?
Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
